Breakfast with Lisa & Josh #1

Welcome to the first edition of Breakfast with Lisa & Josh! Depending on where you are in the world, you may not actually get this email at breakfast. Time zones, ya know - weird stuff.

We're so excited to get this kicked off. Here's what we've been been up to!

This week, I have been studying like crazy for the commercial drone pilots license (WHICH I PASSED WOOO), while also trying to get all the things ready for our Travel Thursday series. I really underestimated how much goes into filming an informational series like that, but I'm super glad we're doing it. We made the first one this week, and it's a topic that I've wanted to talk about for so, so long. Long-term travel is a thing that's near and dear to my heart, and it was time to get it off my chest.

Our first Travel Thursday Video

This past week, we started our new Travel Thursday series, which has been so great. I can’t wait to keep talking about all of these interesting topics, and really help people get out into the world once COVID is behind us, and countries can reopen safely. Figuring out how much a Gap Year costs is a difficult task, and I’m hoping all these videos will help motivate and explain exactly how to make that dream come true for people who want it.

Hawaii has recently reduced their lockdown due to very low COVID infection rates, and that means that we actually got to go out with some friends to a restaurant for the first time in a very long time. It's hard to explain, but it felt truly normal for just a few hours, and that was an amazing feeling. It felt hopeful, like perhaps, for the first time in a year, we can really say that the worst is behind us.

We also put out this video where we discuss some of the things that we wish we knew before moving to Hawaii. It can likely be summarized in a few words - food is expensive, you need a car, aloha is real.

Other than that, we’ve been talking nonstop about what life will look like if we can go on this big trip we’ve always wanted to go on. We know that we want to document as much as possible of it for all of you, but we’re not quite sure how to best do that, while still making the trip really fun for us. Balancing creating videos all the time vs. having time for just us without a camera has been difficult, and we need to find that balance before we start out on the trip in earnest. So we’re going to be slowly ramping up our videos to see how many we can do in a week without losing our minds, or you losing yours from overwhelm - next week is 5 videos, week after 6, week after 7… I think that’s as high as we will go.

Anyway - thank you so much for reading this, and for sharing a bit of your breakfast time with us. We really appreciate it! Next one is coming next Sunday - we hope you have a great week :)
