Breakfast with Lisa & Josh #57 - Home, home on the range

Welcome Back to Breakfast with Lisa & Josh!

We’re back at home for a few weeks.

There’s something so unreasonably scary about saying that, being travel filmmakers. It’s like we’re expected to always be traveling, always be go-go-going, always be making videos. Never seeing our family. Never not making YouTube videos. That’s probably just an expectation that we put on ourselves. Taking a break on YouTube just feels… taboo.

Not like we’re actually on a break - we’re still editing and releasing videos that we had filmed a few days back.

We’ve been struggling with how to balance these things recently, and decided that the films we make don’t have to be released exactly when they were filmed. The intention was never to have it be a livestream of our lives, but to be interesting, hopefully entertaining, and useful videos about amazing places in the world, all while showing you how to add more travel to your lives so that you can eventually stop watching us and go on your own huge adventure.

And then hopefully come back after your adventure and start planning your next one with us :)

You see, in my family, 4th of July is our Christmas (we also celebrate Christmas, but it’s not as big of a deal as the 4th) - it’s the time of year when, no matter what, everyone comes together from wherever they are and we get to spend time together.

This usually involves countless hours spent playing cribbage, sitting around a campfire, fishing, and playing video games until 3 in the morning. Jet lag stole that last one from me, but we got some good gaming in regardless.

We’ve been home for about 2 weeks now, seeing family and friends that we haven’t seen in over a year. Reconnecting. Moving a bit slower. Honestly, I think we needed it.

Don’t worry, we’re going to be back on the road very, very soon. :)

We just don’t know where yet. Too busy celebrating summer-campfire-Christmas.

Where should we go next?

Today

Today we are editing the last of our South Korea vlogs, catching up with old friends and family, and planning our next adventure. We also have a to-do list about 300 things long that we had been putting off forever because we haven’t been at home in forever. Le sigh.

Important, but ultimately boring work. Except making the videos. This ferry trip to Jeju video is awesome :)

Our last few days in South Korea were amazing :)

The (Near) Future

We’re planning our next adventure right now. We’re between a few options -

Puerto Rico

Peru (Machu Picchu trek)

Japan? Is it too early for Japan?

UK

Nepal? No, monsoon season, can’t do that

Is there a hike all the way across Italy?

What if we built our own tuk-tuk and drove across Thailand?

The list is long.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Oh, and if you want to learn how we afford to take all these trips after quitting our jobs last year, you’ll likely be interested in our Skillshare course on Travel Hacking and Frequent Flier Miles. It’s been really taking off lately, but we still have a few uses of this link left for those of you who want to see the class for free. It comes with a free month of Skillshare, which is more than enough to watch our class and any of the other great courses on there!

Bonus Cat Content

On our train ride down to Yeosu, Lisa picked out our hostel solely based on the reviews mentioning “a cat.” Well, here she is.
