Breakfast with Lisa & Josh #68 - Sushi and Shenanigans

Welcome Back to Breakfast with Lisa & Josh!

Japan is everything we were hoping for, and more.

After being closed for 934 days, it’s open once again, and it feels like everyone is here celebrating that. There’s electricity in the air (literally in Akihabara), and it’s just incredible to be here right now.

We’ve been here for 4 days, and that energy has been keeping us moving all the time, exploring as much of Tokyo as we can in the few days we have here. Running for trains, buying things out of vending machines that definitely shouldn’t be in a vending machine, eating way too much sushi, meditating in temples, going to bars called something like “Deathmatch in Hell” in Golden Gai - Tokyo is exactly as I remember it. Eccentric, calm, beautiful, vast and filled with wonderful contradiction.

All I’m feeling right now is gratitude. Gratitude that the world is in a place where we can travel safely almost anywhere. Gratitude for all the hard working people that made it all possible. Gratitude that a place like this even exists, and that we’re lucky enough to be able to go to it.

What a world.

Today

Eating dinner with our friends Tia and Cheveyo (One Pack Wanderers) and Heather and Bill (Tales From Our Pocket). It feels like everyone is in Japan right now, and it’s super exciting!

The (Near) Future

Osaka, and spa world. Onsens and onsens.

Oh, and if you want to learn how we afford to take all these trips after quitting our jobs last year, you’ll likely be interested in our Skillshare course on Travel Hacking and Frequent Flier Miles. It’s been really taking off lately, but we still have a few uses of this link left for those of you who want to see the class for free. It comes with a free month of Skillshare, which is more than enough to watch our class and any of the other great courses on there!
